Thomas County Central and Bainbridge are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to take on the Bainbridge Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Thomas County Central earned a 59-51 victory over Lee County. Given Thomas County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Lee County is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Bainbridge scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 65-28 victory over Cairo. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-13.
Bainbridge's success was spearheaded by the efforts of DaNydia Campbell, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Jinasia Barnes, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Campbell scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miyah Williams, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Thomas County Central's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Bainbridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
Thomas County Central was able to grind out a solid win over Bainbridge when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 56-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thomas County Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
