For the first time this season, Sunny Hills will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Marina Vikings will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Sunny Hills strolled past Sonora with points to spare, taking the game 34-20. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

George Shelledy was his usual excellent self, rushing for 132 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Mikeal Khan was in the mix too, providing Sunny Hills with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sunny Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Marina won against Pacifica on September 12th with 21 points and they decided to stick to that point total again last Thursday. The Vikings enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over Esperanza. That looming 21-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
Sunny Hills better focus on containing Francis Saporito and Carson Hunnicutt as the pair were huge in Marina's win. Saporito threw for 129 yards and a pair of TDs, while Hunnicutt picked up 119 receiving yards.
One reason for the win was Marina's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Brayden O'Rourke with two. Alberto Herrera was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making five total tackles.
Sunny Hills' record is now 4-1. As for Marina, their record now sits at an identical 4-1.
Thursday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Shelledy and Saporito. Shelledy just won't slow down this season and has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 86 rushing yards per game. Saporito has been a dominant force too and has thrown 7 touchdowns while averaging 154.8 passing yards per game.
Sunny Hills ended up a good deal behind Marina in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 21-6. Thankfully for the Lancers, Gabe Carles (who rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
