Emmie Sylvia-Cochran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Blaine saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Vogel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Wayzata beat Hopkins 8-4 on Friday.
Ella Goodnature looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maddie Klein, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Wayzata now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Blaine, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Blaine hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Wayzata struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Blaine beat Wayzata 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Bengals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
