Two dominant signal callers in Frankie Dardano and Rylan Cooney are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Denver North Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Holy Family Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Denver North was able to grind out a solid win over Niwot, taking the game 24-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Denver North.
Denver North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dardano, who threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jack Gordon, who picked up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Holy Family came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 49-8 victory over Kennedy on the road. The result was nothing new for Holy Family, who have now won five games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Cooney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Ashton Erickson was in the mix as well, providing Holy Family with two touchdowns.
Denver North's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Holy Family, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Denver North was dealt a bruising 44-0 loss at the hands of Holy Family in their previous matchup back in October of 2019. Thankfully for Denver North, Calahan Carter (who threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
