Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, Iowa) saw its 21-point lead dwindle to seven, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Central Clinton (DeWitt, Iowa) 21-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Holt Johansen in the first quarter, the Vikings led 14-0 at the half.
The loss snapped the Sabers' 6-game winning streak.
Johansen stood out for Decorah-North Winneshiek in the win. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns.
DNW went into the matchup giving up only 7.3 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Central Clinton, which notched a 28-13 victory over Marion in its previous outing.
In its next matchup Central Clinton (8-4) will take on Decorah-North Winneshiek in a playoff game. The Vikings go into the week with a record of 11-0.
