The Chittenango Bears fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Rams by a score of 83-81. Chittenango's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Chittenango lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Moesch. Despite the final result, he scored 55 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The matchup was Moesch's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Taylor, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Chittenango's loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Jamesville-DeWitt, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chittenango will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Fayetteville-Manlius at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fayetteville-Manlius will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 477th, while Chittenango is ranked 197th). Jamesville-DeWitt will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Central Square at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
