The Live Oak Acorns will take on the Homestead Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Live Oak comes in on five and Homestead on six.
Live Oak had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Christopher on Friday. The Acorns were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cougars. The Acorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Maya Medina made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kayla Tulowitzki was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mixco, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Homestead gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Milpitas with a sharp 18-7 win.
Like Live Oak, Homestead also got a great game from a two-way player: Mackenzie Smith. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Gwyn Romero was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Cierra Hagan was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Live Oak pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Live Oak beat Homestead 3-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Acorns repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
