Winters is 0-10 against Pierce since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Winters Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Pierce Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Winters got the win against East Nicolaus by a conclusive 66-41.
Meanwhile, Pierce scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Live Oak, posting a 69-38 victory at home. The win was just what Pierce needed coming off of a 77-45 loss in their prior contest.
Pierce's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Drew Burnum, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Alfonso Orozco, who scored 16 points along with six assists and three steals. Burnum has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Guynn, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Winters' victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Pierce, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-17 record this season.
Winters came up short against Pierce when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 51-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Burnum, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
