The Dodge County Indians and the Sumter County Panthers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dodge County is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
On Saturday, Dodge County strolled past the Purple Hurricane with points to spare, taking the game 58-41.
Paige Ingram and Lyric Green were among the main playmakers for Dodge County as the former scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks and the latter dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Green is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ja"Vonna Hamilton, who scored three points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Sumter County put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 65-40 margin over Berrien. Given Sumter County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Rebels are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dodge County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Sumter County, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7.
Dodge County came up short against the Panthers in their previous meeting back in January, falling 49-37. Can Dodge County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
