4A Region 7 recap September 10, 2013
Corner Canyon was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in 4A Region 7. Earlier in the week, the Chargers defeated Westlake 21-19.
Timpanogos was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after losing to Pleasant Grove. The Timberwolves came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Olympus's dynamic duo of Chase Manning and Connor Haller proved to be unstoppable against West Jordan, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Chase Manning threw for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns and Connor Haller had 81 yards receiving. Coleman Meier helped Olympus' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 61 yards.
The Titans' dynamic duo of Chase Manning and Connor Haller proved tough for the Jaguars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Aleck Russon was the best running back in the league this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 72 yards as Skyline bested West Jordan. Chris Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 78 yards on the ground.
Chase Manning put up the best numbers through the air as Aaron Whitehead's team defeated Daniel Dupaix's team.
Connor Haller was the best wideout in the league this week as the Titans topped the Jaguars.
6-foot-3 quarterback Jackson Dunford of Timpanogos is the league leader in passing yards this season with 728. He has also thrown 8 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nolan Gray. The Orem star has 20 catches for 235 yards.
One of 4A Region 7's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Ed Larson's team and the Eagles face off next week.
The Timberwolves are currently in second, while Skyline is in third.
Orem lost to American Fork 53-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tucker Camp threw for 183 yards and ran for 12 yards in the loss.
