Berryhill scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Verdigris, 30-27. At the time, the Cardinals was ranked 13th in the state, while the Chiefs was 35th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Verdigris, who took down 13th ranked Verdigris, 30-27.
Tanner Smith was the most productive running back in 3A District 5 this week. He ran for 244 yards on 30 carries as Dan Nickles's team topped Sperry. J.d. Hanslovan also contributed to the rushing game with 109 yards on the ground.
Casey Holcomb put up the best numbers through the air as the Pirates lost to the Bulldoggers. He finished with five completions for 40 yards. Holcomb's favorite target this week was C.J. Gilbert, who caught three passes for 28 yards.
Roecker was the best wideout in the league this week as Dewey beat Sperry. Roecker racked up one reception for 37 yards.
Berryhill's Zach Jackson and JUSTIN JACKSON have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jackson has thrown for 592 yards this season, while JACKSON has 21 catches for 288 yards. The Cardinals' Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 1072.
A big matchup in 3A District 5 this week will be when Robert Park's team takes on Pat Harper's team. The Pirates are in sixth place, while the Chiefs are in first place.
