The Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. 2024 welcomed they with a 62-40 loss courtesy of Ansonia. Mississinawa Valley has struggled against Ansonia recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Mississinawa Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kyle Wehrkamp, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aron Hunt, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Ethan Reichert was on fire for Ansonia: he scored 34 points along with six rebounds. Jacob Schmitmeyer was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Mississinawa Valley bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ansonia, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mississinawa Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Arcanum at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Arcanum focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Tuesday. As for Ansonia, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri-Village at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Village will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
