Millard is 0-10 against South Summit since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 3:30 p.m. Millard has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Duchesne hit Millard with a four-run third inning last Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Millard came up short against Duchesne, falling 11-4.
Millard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Berkley Stephens, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, South Summit came tearing into last Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Braves. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Sara Duke was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Sydney Crystal was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs.
South Summit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
South Summit's record is now 7-10. As for Millard, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Millard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like South Summit struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Millard might still be hurting after the 19-13 loss they got from South Summit in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
