On Friday, the Tolman Tigers faced the Johnston Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Tolman came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers and snuck past 67-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Malik Gelinas, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Tolman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hilaire, who scored eight points along with seven assists and five steals.
Tolman's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Johnston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Rogers the next time they take the court. Tolman will head out to face the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
