Baseball Recap: Montgomery Academy Has No Trouble Against Brewbaker Tech

While Montgomery Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Brewbaker Tech Rams on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

Paxton Haigler was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Desautels, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Montgomery Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Montgomery Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Brewbaker Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery Academy will venture away from home to square off against Montgomery Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brewbaker Tech, they are taking a road trip to challenge Saint James at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
