After flying high against the Jackson Day Mariners last Friday, the Sugar Creek Wildcats came back down to earth. Sugar Creek took a serious blow against Carolina International on Tuesday, falling 78-41. Sugar Creek was down 58-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Sugar Creek still got an impressive performance from Aidan Gatewood, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Watson, who scored nine points.
Michael Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Carolina International, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Griffin, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Sugar Creek's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Carolina International, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
Sugar Creek will head out on the road to challenge Apprentice Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sugar Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59 points per game this season. As for Carolina International, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Valor Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Carolina International is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Valor Preparatory Academy in North Carolina (Carolina International is ranked 211th, while Valor Preparatory Academy is ranked 450th).
