Kendall Isenberg made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Annalisa Squatrito also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Peninsula Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 6-1. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Quinn Freakley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Freakley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Baker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Peninsula Catholic pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cape Henry Collegiate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .421. However, it's not like Peninsula Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cape Henry Collegiate took their win against Peninsula Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 22-3 score. Will the Dolphins repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
