Basketball Recap: Thatcher Comes Up Short

Thatcher scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to the Marana Tigers. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Thatcher still got an impressive performance from Makenzi Lunt, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Lunt is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Indiana Jones was another key player, putting up seven points.

Marana got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nyla Woyee out in front who posted 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Sadie McRae, who put up six points and 14 boards.

Thatcher's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Marana, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thatcher and Coolidge will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marana, they will be home for the holidays to greet Kofa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
