The Leesburg Yellow Jackets will square off against the Windermere Prep Lakers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Leesburg has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Windermere Prep will come in with eight straight wins.
Leesburg fell victim to Tavares and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 18-0.
Leesburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Tozer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while Windermere Prep put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Celebration. The Lakers blew past the Storm 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won ten contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Carsha Campbell and Ella Goldberg were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Campbell tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Goldberg tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Campbell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Goldberg went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Goldberg a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kylie Konstand was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Samy Czachoroswski was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Windermere Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Windermere Prep pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Leesburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Leesburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Windermere Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
