The Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers will challenge the Lordsburg Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lordsburg will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Mesilla Valley Christian School extended their winning streak to five on Saturday. The SonBlazers were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Mescalero Apache.

Mesilla Valley Christian School let Jude Herrera and Kobe Redfearn run wild. Herrera went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple, while Redfearn went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four RBI gave Herrera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Weston Marr, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Mesilla Valley Christian School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .636 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lordsburg hadn't done well against Capitan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mavericks blew past the Tigers 32-18. The Mavericks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Victor Valdez was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Lordsburg is 6-1 when Valdez posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Jesus Reyes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Mesilla Valley Christian School's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Lordsburg, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mesilla Valley Christian School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .598. However, it's not like Lordsburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .527. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
