The Walled Lake Western Warriors will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Mason Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Walled Lake Western extended their postseason success on Friday against Avondale. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Yellowjackets 50-22 at home. The win was nothing new for Walled Lake Western as they're now sitting on three straight.
Walled Lake Western's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Noonan, who rushed for 243 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per carry. Noonan was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Donovan Triplett, who rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Mason put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past DeWitt 42-7 at home. Given Mason's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while DeWitt is ranked 55th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walled Lake Western's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Mason, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Walled Lake Western might still be hurting after the 30-7 defeat they got from Mason in their previous meeting back in October. Can Walled Lake Western avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
