University's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Portola Bulldogs with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Carson Cruz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Cruz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Amela Hoang was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexandra McBride, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Portola, they will challenge Oxford Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
