The Holland Patent Golden Knights lost against the Cazenovia Lakers back in October of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Holland Patent was dealt a 44-14 defeat at the hands of Cazenovia. While losing is never fun, Holland Patent can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Cazenovia is ranked 84th).
When it comes to explaining why Holland Patent lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Latella. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Latella was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Cazenovia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Livingston, who threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Bryce Enders got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Holland Patent and nudges their season record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for Cazenovia, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Holland Patent does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cazenovia will look to defend their home field on Friday against Adirondack at 7:30 p.m. Adirondack is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
