St. Vincent came into Thursday's match looking for another win against South Effingham, but Clara Vorel wouldn't allow it. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Saints 2-1 with plenty of help from Vorel, who had 14 kills. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season.

South Effingham had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-19, 15-13.

South Effingham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for St. Vincent's, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Coincidentally, South Effingham and St. Vincent's will both be playing Savannah Christian the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Saints will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
