The Manchester Lancers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 22-7 victory over L.C. Bird. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Manchester also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
The team won by holding L.C. Bird to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Manchester's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Makai Byerson and his two sacks.
Manchester's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. As for L.C. Bird, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.
Manchester will take on Richmond City School of the Arts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Richmond City School of the Arts is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for L.C. Bird, they will head out on the road to face off against Cosby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cosby will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while L.C. Bird is ranked 93rd).
