The Northern Nash Knights had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They blew past Franklinton 72-52. The score was close at the half, but Northern Nash pulled away in the second half with 46 points.
Northern Nash was led to victory by CJ Rosser and Randall King. Rosser dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while King scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. Trey Battle was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Franklinton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markelle Massenburg, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Hemphill, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Franklinton were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Nash only racked up six assists.
Northern Nash is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Franklinton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12.
Northern Nash will head out on the road to face off against Southern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Northern Nash's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games. As for Franklinton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocky Mount at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Franklinton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
