Basketball Recap: Southwest Edgecombe Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

SouthWest Edgecombe waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 65-50 victory over the West Craven Eagles. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 48-44 defeat the last time these two teams met.

SouthWest Edgecombe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zy Thigpen, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists. The dominant performance gave Thigpen a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Bridgers, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards.

Despite the loss, West Craven still got an impressive performance from Jimmie West lll, who posted 26 points. West lll continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Shelby Cherry Jr, who had nine points.

SouthWest Edgecombe's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for West Craven, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
