Basketball Recap: Alleghany Falls Despite Big Games from Colby Crouse and Connor Ramirez

Alleghany suffered their biggest loss since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They lost 76-53 to the South Stokes Sauras. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Sauras recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Connor Ramirez and Colby Crouse certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ramirez went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points, while Crouse almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Ramirez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lance Shatley, who posted eight points.

Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for South Stokes, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Alleghany wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-50 win against Grayson County on the 27th. As for South Stokes, they will challenge Mount Airy at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in South Stokes' favor as the squad sits on 19 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Mount Airy has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
