The Panther Creek Catamounts entered their tilt with the Willow Spring Storm with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Panther Creek enjoyed a cozy 63-49 win over Willow Spring on Monday.
Panther Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Barner, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Tucker, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Several Storm players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Gray, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Gray continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amanda Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Willow Spring were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Creek only racked up six assists.
Panther Creek pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their 24th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Willow Spring, their defeat ended a 16-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Panther Creek the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Holly Springs has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Willow Spring, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fuquay - Varina at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fuquay - Varina will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Willow Spring is ranked 28th).
