The Hercules Titans will head out to challenge the Campolindo Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Hercules got the win against Making Waves Academy by a conclusive 15-2. Considering the Titans have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hercules saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Saraya De Alba, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Campolindo). They blew past Ygnacio Valley 27-10 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Paige Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Williams was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Campolindo got a massive performance out of Cassidy Mintz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Mintz has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nicky Sturtz, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Campolindo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hercules is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Campolindo, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-8.
Everything went Hercules' way against Campolindo when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Hercules made off with a 25-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
