Baseball Recap: Daniel Triumphs

Daniel's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Travelers Rest Devildogs by a score of 9-5. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Devildogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Corbin Spilliards was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last three contests. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Will Davis looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Davis Reeves was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Daniel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matchups.

Daniel's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Travelers Rest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Daniel will challenge Blue Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Travelers Rest, they will face off against West-Oak at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.18 runs per game on average), something the Devildogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
