Given Ponchatoula's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Scotlandville is ranked 67th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jamal Drewery and Trelen Washington certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Drewery scored 19 points along with 5 assists, while Washington scored 16 points. The game was Drewery's third in a row with at least ten points. Marvin Dotson was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Ponchatoula's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Scotlandville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Ponchatoula will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Ascension at 7:30 p.m. Scotlandville is on the road again on Thursday and play against Denham Springs at 6:30 p.m. on November 30th. Denham Springs will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
