The Cole Cougars waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They came out on top against Randolph by a score of 54-47. Given Cole's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Randolph is ranked 1175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cole's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenny Atunrase, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Atunrase is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brennan Skaggs, who scored 11 points.
Cole has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 25-9 record this season. As for Randolph, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-18.
Cole will take on Great Hearts Northern Oaks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cole focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Randolph, they will head out on the road to challenge Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marion and Randolph are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
