The Memorial Roughriders will head out on the road to face off against the Shawnee Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorial is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Memorial's strategy against Coldwater on Saturday. Memorial strolled past Coldwater with points to spare, taking the game 64-50.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Shawnee's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 76-56 defeat at the hands of Lima Senior. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their defeat, Shawnee saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Beckett Bertke, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Bertke has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Nick Pasion was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Memorial's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Everything went Memorial's way against Shawnee when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Memorial made off with a 78-55 win. With Memorial ahead 50-30 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
