Northland Pines has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Mosinee Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Northland Pines will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Mosinee is ranked 55th).
Northland Pines' 16-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 40-26 bruising from Lakeland on Friday.
Mosinee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 29 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 71-18 victory over Antigo on the road. That looming 71-18 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mosinee yet this season.
Mosinee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landen Thomer out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists. Those 12 assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagen Jirschele, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists.
Northland Pines has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Mosinee, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Northland Pines barely slipped by Mosinee in their previous meeting back in February, winning 59-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northland Pines since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
