The Hawken Hawks will face off against the Chagrin Falls Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hawken has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Hawken's offense. They came up short against Perry on Monday, falling 16-0. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Chagrin Falls came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bison 9-2. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Scarlett Beech spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ally Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reece De Leon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Chagrin Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beachwood only posted a batting average of .091.
Hawken's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Chagrin Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Hawken came out on top in a nail-biter against Chagrin Falls when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 12-11. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
