5A Region I District 4 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Carroll extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region I District 4 this week by beating Keller, 56-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Fossil Ridge moved up to 374 from 410 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to make move up by besting Haltom 39-20.
Jacob Gnacinski put up the best numbers through the air as Fossil Ridge topped the Buffalos. He finished with 14 completions for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Gnacinski's favorite target this week was Adonis Ramos, who caught five passes for 103 yards.
Kenny Hill provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Carroll defeated the Indians. He completed 17 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 90 yards. Hill's favorite target this week was Mike Gardiner, who caught nine passes for 147 yards.
Dakota Chavis was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 168 yards on 19 carries as Northwest beat Keller. Draze Lawliss also contributed to the rushing game with 138 yards on the ground.
On the ground, Carl Stralow's team's Dalton Mills has rushed for 987 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ramos. The Fossil Ridge star has 46 catches for 681 yards.
The Indians' Mills is a mere 13 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
Going into this week's game against Tony Baccarini's team, the Dragons' Hill needs 95 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 16 touchdowns this year, Hill has thrown for 1905 yards with two interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Carroll takes on the Panthers. The Dragons are currently in first, while Fossil Ridge is in fourth.
Keller Central and Richland played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Keller Central eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory. Jake McClurg threw for 94 yards and one touchdown and ran for 148 yards in the win.
