The Brownsburg Bulldogs will take on the Plainfield Quakers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Brownsburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Ben Davis as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Giants recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Etta Schroering looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ag (Ava) Pogue, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Paddock, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Plainfield came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with 19 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Woodmen get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory.
Kami Arnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Arnett was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other pitching news, Sidney Parks looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Kenzi Arnett was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Krista Haberkorn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Plainfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood only posted a batting average of .000.
Plainfield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brownsburg, their record now sits at 17-9.
