Baseball Recap: Orofino Picks Up 15th Consecutive Victory

Orofino waltzed into their match on Friday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. Everything went their way against the Grangeville Bulldogs as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Maniacs, who have now won 17 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jaeger Tondevold and Blake Barlow made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Tondevold tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Barlow struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Tondevold went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Barlow went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Tondevold is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

In other batting news, Quinton Naranjo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Aiden Olive, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Orofino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

Orofino pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Grangeville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-10.

Orofino does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grangeville, they have already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Priest River on the 2nd.
