Payton Williams made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Williams is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Melba came out on top against New Plymouth on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run sixth inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Pilgrims. Considering the Mustangs have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Colter Bodily made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Bodily was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kelton Bodily was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ty Aggen, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
The victory made it two in a row for Melba and bumps their season record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Vision, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Vision has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Melba struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vision couldn't quite get it done against Melba when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-2. Can Vision avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
