The Chaputnguak Shaman won the last time they faced the Nuniwarmiut Herders, and things went their way on Friday too. Chaputnguak was the clear victor by a 61-38 margin over Nuniwarmiut. Chaputnguak pushed the score to 50-26 by the end of the third, a deficit Nuniwarmiut cut but never quite recovered from.
Ashton Matthew was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Chaputnguak's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Felagai Laumea, who scored eight points.
When it comes to explaining why Nuniwarmiut lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Williams. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Mason Hendrickson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
The win got Chaputnguak back to even at 2-2. As for Nuniwarmiut, their loss was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Nelson Island the next time they take the court. Chaputnguak will host Nelson Island at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, while Nuniwarmiut will host them at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday.
