As the UIL state football playoffs reach the midpoint, the Class 5A unbeaten teams have been trimmed to four: Allen, DeSoto, Katy and Spring Westfield (Houston).
All four own 13-0 records.
Allen leapfrogged DeSoto and regained the top spot in this week's MaxPreps Texas Top 25.
Katy, the only unbeaten team remaining in the Division II bracket, is in the third position followed by Westfield, which moves up from sixth to fourth.
Two previously unbeaten teams, North Shore (Houston) and Lamar (Houston) suffered regional semifinal defeats in Week 13.
Another holiday weekend victim was previous No. 4 Carroll (Southlake), upset by Trinity (Euless), 42-38.
Looking ahead to this week's regional title games, the headliner is the 5A-I Region II playoff matching No. 1 Allen vs. No. 4 Westfield in Round Rock's Reeves Stadium. Allen, the defending 5A-I state champion, owns a 24-game winning streak.
No. 2 DeSoto will try to avoid Carroll's fate when it faces 11-2 Trinity in a rematch of a Week 2 non-district game that DeSoto dominated, 61-35. The 5A-I Region I title game will be played Saturday afternoon in Allen.
Katy, a winner of 29 straight, has coasted through its first three 5A-II playoff rounds, but the defending state champion should get a test from No. 6 Manvel (12-1). The Region III final will be played at Houston's Reliant Stadium.
No. 5 Steele (Cibolo), the dominant San Antonio team for the last five years, faces a challenge from giant-slayer Johnson (San Antonio) in the 5A-II Region IV title game in San Marcos. Johnson has already taken out highly regarded Smithson Valley (Spring Branch) and Brandeis (San Antonio).
