If the Mountain View Mountain Lions were feeling good off their 56-14 takedown of the Desert View Jaguars last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mountain View took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flowing Wells on Wednesday. Mountain View lost against Flowing Wells in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-28 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Mountain View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Holly McLemore. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Carter, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Flowing Wells to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brianna Potter, who scored 14 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Kayla Bailey, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Mountain View's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Flowing Wells, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Mountain View will head out on the road to square off against Catalina Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Flowing Wells, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. Pueblo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
