The Milan Wildcats were the 62-46 winner over the Westran Hornets when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Milan fell 57-48 to Westran on Monday. While losing is never fun, Milan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while Westran is ranked 212th).
Despite the loss, Milan still got an impressive performance from Ahmet Niasse, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 50% of Milan's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Keaton Weter, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Marshall Kitchen, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds for Westran. Kitchen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Brandow, who scored 13 points.
Milan's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Westran, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.
Milan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westran, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Paris at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Westran is facing Paris at the right time seeing as Paris is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
