Christian Brothers has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Woodcreek Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Christian Brothers rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-14 victory over Yuba City at home.
Christian Brothers relied on the efforts of Deakon Holden, who threw for 161 yards and four touchdowns, and Sammie Outlaw-Baldon, who picked up 105 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Jay Cummings and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Christian Brothers' victory.
Meanwhile, Woodcreek came tearing into two weeks ago's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Roseville as Woodcreek made off with a 33-8 victory. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Roseville is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodcreek had a senior duo take command as Hakeem Anderson rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries and Austin Katapodis rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown. Anderson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Dylan Perrault, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Their wins bumped Christian Brothers to 7-4 and Woodcreek to 9-1.
Christian Brothers didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Woodcreek in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 20-14 victory. Does Christian Brothers have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodcreek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
