Having just played yesterday, the Coral Springs Charter Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Don Soffer Aventura Barracuda at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Coral Springs Charter comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Coral Springs Charter pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Fort Lauderdale on the road by a decisive 69-55 margin. While losing is never fun, Coral Springs Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while Fort Lauderdale is ranked 231st).
Meanwhile, Don Soffer Aventura was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 48-43 to LaSalle.
Despite their defeat, Don Soffer Aventura saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nimrod Amiel Eilon, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Amiel Eilon grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tom Sela, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Coral Springs Charter bumped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Coral Springs Charter came out on top in a nail-biter against Don Soffer Aventura in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 41-38.
