5A North Metro recap Oct. 23, 2012
Ralston Valley extended the longest winning streak in 5A North Metro this week by beating Arvada West, 48-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Ralston Valley took down the Wildcats 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jacob Knipp threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Boulder's dynamic duo of Tj Patterson and Demetrius Kennedy proved tough for Legacy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Patterson threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns and Kennedy had 120 yards receiving. River Addison helped Boulder's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 110 yards.
Phydell Paris was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 193 yards as the Lightning fell to the Lightning. Teammate Jake Bublitz added to the ground attack by rushing for 12 yards.
Fairview's Johnny Feauto and Sam Martin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Feauto has thrown for 2268 yards this season, while Martin, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 63 catches for 1044 yards. Paris from Legacy leads the league in rushing with 1073 yards.
Matt Loyd's team's Knipp is within 42 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Wayne Voorhees' team. Accruing a total of 19 touchdowns this year, Knipp has thrown for 1958 yards with five interceptions.
A big matchup in 5A North Metro this week will be when the Mustangs take on the Lightning. At the moment, Ralston Valley is in first, while Legacy is in third.
The Mustangs led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Arvada West. Knipp in the win.
