The Chittenango Bears will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mexico Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Mexico took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chittenango, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Chittenango didn't have too much trouble with Homer on the road as they won 54-38. Given Chittenango's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Homer is ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ryan Moesch, who scored 40 points. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Chittenango's points. Another player making a difference was Jack Lamphere, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Mexico came up short against Cortland on Monday and fell 61-50.
Chittenango is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Mexico, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Chittenango against Mexico when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 87-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chittenango since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
