Appalachian let Kylee Owens and Trinity Day run wild. Owens went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI, while Day went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Owens a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leia Mena, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Appalachian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Southeastern got the win against Ranburne on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-0.
Emellie Hamilton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklynn Davlin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Moon, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Appalachian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Southeastern, their record now sits at 15-10.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Appalachian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Southeastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Appalachian suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Southeastern in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
