Blue Ridge has gone a perfect 10-0 against Holbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets will welcome the Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Blue Ridge was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Round Valley on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Elks an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Kaden Edgington, who gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Round Valley off the board. Edgington has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Justin Carpenter was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Holbrook made easy work of Monument Valley on Saturday and carried off a 17-2 win. The Roadrunners haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Hayden Eisele looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Ty Larson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ben Eisele, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Holbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Blue Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Holbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blue Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Holbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blue Ridge took their win against Holbrook in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
